Yeah those are very different types of social interactions. We need to encourage younger kids, and especially young men, to spend more time engaging with each other in person. 🙏🏼

Not sure what a better term might be to capture what he’s getting at but I do think what he’s talking about and advocating for is important. And so is the language he chooses to use.

Asocial and asexual are being used to describe a group of young men who might very well want sex and are social — just online through video games — so the use of these terms, especially asexual, when used to carelessly without nuance hurts the asexual community by dehumanizing our experiences.

Yeah asexuality is a spectrum of little to now sexual attraction so it seems to me like what he’s talking about is more of a cultural issue where younger men fear being vulnerable and rejected even if they might want to have romantic or sexual relationships.

Being pretty sharp does not excuse his lack of understanding of asexuality. I listened to the interview and agree with a lot he says about the struggles men and boys are going through today but disagree with the way he frames it as conflating asocial tendencies with asexuality. It’s problematic.

I’m still in mourning and disbelief of the cancellation 😭 it makes me too sad to engage in WoT content now even though I love the show so much 🥲

I guess I live in a bubble and this is why I don’t go out of it 😭
