Ok trying to get back into the swing of things. I can’t draw so taking a basic drawing course. Here is day 1 with a contour drawing of a satsuma in pencil. Added a little shading to delineate some of the outline.

My iPad camera doesn’t do them any justice especially one by Douglas Treasure - how the colours mesh and meld together is terrific and what you can’t see is how he handled the boat reflection in the pool of water. The darks lighter and the light darker. Subtle touch

This Ron Ranson book on Watercolour Impressionists arrived in the post today. It is utterly marvellous and has rekindled my desire to paint again. I hadn’t heard of Douglas Treasure before but his paintings are marvellous I particularly like the simplicity in this beached boat scene?…..Cont’d

Little Broadbean pods emerging. Sutton variety. Will be on my dinner plate in about 8 weeks.
Grew them in pots last year and they were delicious and heavy croppers.

Lemon yellow flowered Tree Peony in fine bloom in my garden. Too complicated for me paint but the leaves look interesting. Watercolourists do your best. Image right free.,

Donegal from another #GrahameBooth 6 landscapes in 6 weeks the object was to capture the light. I did it better in my second I think. The clouds were better in my first attempt though

Lissan House N Ireland from a #GrahameBooth 6 Landscapes in 6 Weeks programme. Object to paint separation of differing greens. Painted twice as the foreground shadow needed darkening and I’m pleased with my trees. I’ll award myself a good effort for the wall rendering and slate tiles.

Toucan final colour version. Quite pleased overall maybe the shadow under the beak could be a shade darker but I wanted to keep to the orange and not use either the complimentary nor neutral tint.
Will try this one again but with a more reddish beak/bill perhaps.

This is what I’m talking about in your simple but lovely and emotion evoking paintings. There’s a delicacy of touch combined with a fragrance of genius.

Waterbuffalo also from a #TomShepherd school with 3 practices beforehand in warm colours then cool colours and then warm under painting with cool glazing.
Told you I can’t draw but I’m not letting that stop me haha!
At least it looks a bit like a waterbuffalo and not a cat or a hippo 😉
