Max Miller @tastinghistory.bsky.social found the recipe for this! And he made it on his You Tube channel.
Oh the memories....

I too thought this, then I realized they said "Chinese food" not "Mass market junk food dressed up in an Asian sounding name"

I still say forgiveness is needed for healing, but it needs to be the kind a victim aims at themselves. Forgive yourself for all the things you put up with, all the signs you passed over, for all the "shoulds" that keep popping up.
It is not your fault someone chose to harm you.

Yeah, the Catholic church did that at the Council of Tours, around 567 CE.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelfth...

The date is a little sketchy because it's about 1000 years before the Gregorian Calendar we currently use existed.

Check on cake mixes. I got so used to ignoring them on the boxes that first time I tried to bake a cake at 5000 ft, it rose so nicely, then promptly fell so hard I had to turn the Chocolate cake into a "cauldron" and put ice cream in the 2 inch deep well that formed in the center.

The twelve Days of Christmas start on Christmas day, Dec 25. Dec 31st is only the 7th day, Christmas keeps going until Jan 5. (and the Epiphany on Jan 6th is when Carnival starts, so hey, have at until Lent if you like!)

Wages. They're trying to use it to solve having to pay wages.

Dang Epstein took more photos than a grandma with 14 grandkids! BEFORE digital.
Wonder where he was getting them developed? (as a note to those under 35, pictures used to be limited to 24-36 at a time, then you had to change the film roll, and pay $$ to get someone else to make them visible)

She was awesome, look up about her life sometime, she got away from a set of abusers who were using her for slave labor by running away to the carnival.

If it means they'll hate Elon's space trash messing with the telescopes, I will take what I can GET.

When I was a kid my mom bought OJ *in a carton* (we always got the concentrate in cans) to make one of these with me. It looked really cool, but the holes let the wax drip out really badly so it made a huge mess.

Ah but to smell the stink you have to have certain genes, AND the person who eats it has to have the right genes to make the stink in the first place. Makes me wonder if those genes affect the "hangover remedy" part...

Nah, the breaker will trip, it'll just be a pain in the behind to reset. (have to unhook it and flip it back and forth to reset)

Must be nice to have regular seasons. In the South we have these 4: Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer and Christmas.

It does not snow for Christmas, but you might get an ice storm at some point that will be talked about for the next 3-10 years.

We're surrounded by live oaks that do exactly that. The trees are never barren, as it's the new leaves that push out the old, but around about Easter is when we have to rake the leaves.

But then where I live in Texas is about as far South as Cairo, Egypt so we still have roses blooming.

"Improved", cuddles aren't complicated (even if working is) but any day with kitty cuddles is improved.

Mine sort of does, the issue is to GET any item they don't have from another library costs a $3.45 fee. And they're only for 2 weeks (not 3) and it can't be renewed, or reserved if it's currently out.

My mom's church is catty-corner from her local library. One of the other older ladies who has been blind for years would go and check out a STACK of books and media every week, just to "give the books some love" so they wouldn't get pulled.

Sadly our library is 1. a small town and 2. underfunded so NO, we do NOT have videos or DVDs. They do have about 50 audio books on cassette tapes though. And some magazines!

My grandpa would plant trees from the seeds of apples, peaches, and permissions. I fussed at him once pointing out that they don't always (or often) grow good fruit because the seed doesn't match the fruit. He said it's not for people, it's for the critters.
And any fruit will make good jam.
