I can’t answer this because the correct answer is a book that surprised me with a big plot twist at the end and I would never spoil that ending for those who have not read it yet.

The Gods Must Be Crazy. The faux documentary style confused me at first but then I started laughing and couldn’t stop.

Thank you for the warning as it is near the top of my to-read list. I’ll persevere.

“Anathem” by Neal Stephenson. Three words: “Monks in Space.” The first time I read it I turned from the last page to first page and read it all over again. It’s that good.

Try “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon (the source material for the TV show by the same name.) It’s a unique blend of action, adventure, romance, historical fiction and fantasy. If you like it there are sequels.
