Why do people like things that hurt them? Why do they vote against their interests? Why do I like watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade even though I bitch and moan throughout the whole thing?

I haven’t seen Idiocracy since it came out and I’m really curious to see how much the funny/depressing ratio has shifted. Is it mostly funny or do I need to curl up on the couch with a tub of ice cream and an emotional support animal?
