Warren on Tour

We have had pretty good mobile phone coverage right though the USA, and Chile. Even out in the Atacama desert. Not so good here on the train between Wolli Ck and Hurstville though!

But I like it easy!
November 25, 2024 at 2:40 AM
But as Andrew has said, knowing the system, and understanding the language (and them understanding me) makes it too easy. Not a challenge.

A whole lot easier on public transport here, when you know where you are going - and when the announcements and staff communicate in English!
November 25, 2024 at 2:38 AM
This was a tempting option for breakfast in Aukland this morning!
November 25, 2024 at 2:37 AM
With no Opal card!
November 25, 2024 at 1:47 AM
But the most daunting challenge of the whole trip may well be getting through customs, then tackling the Sydney to Kiama on the train!
November 25, 2024 at 1:47 AM
Followed by adventures in Chile, exploring the driest landscapes on Earth in San Pedro and the Atacama desert.

First there was the excitement and intrigue of the US election, then the Amish experience, before heading down south for alligator kissing. Then being amazed by space engineering in Houston, then the adventure of the canyons in Utah (and of course the excesses of Vegas). Continued above….

Back in Santiago, on the crazy-long identity check queue. 10:00pm Saturday here - flight leaves at 12:30am. I am hoping there are some snack shops still open when I get through security - and that my new bag and clothes make it to Sydney with me!
November 24, 2024 at 1:16 AM
Now, to pack bags and get a lift for the 100km trip to Calama airport, for the first of three flights tonight!
November 23, 2024 at 5:55 PM
Back safely to town and a visit to the Cantina for an empanada for lunch (that they called Benos)
November 23, 2024 at 5:54 PM
Of course, to make up for lost time, we had to keep that pedal to the metal on the winding road back to San Pedro.
November 23, 2024 at 5:53 PM
And for those wondering, I did help push after I had taken the photo. To be honest, they were struggling without me.
November 23, 2024 at 5:53 PM
All pushing, including the driver - no one steering, or braking - if the 3 ton van starts to roll back down the hill! (Ella estará en lo cierto - she’ll be right mate!)
November 23, 2024 at 5:50 PM
Bus is loaded and ready to go, but wait - a flat battery! So it is all out and pushing the bus, up a slight hill, so that an amigo can get in next to to us to jump start…
November 23, 2024 at 4:57 PM
But after 2 hours, time for the walk back up the hill. A rest along the way - to get some breath back!
November 23, 2024 at 4:55 PM
Ah well, if everyone else is doing it, why not!
November 23, 2024 at 4:52 PM
It is selfie city here - I have never seen so many people with phones in the water. And you don’t just take one photo - lots of single poses, then couples together - unbelievable!
November 23, 2024 at 4:51 PM
Looks very inviting. Water temp about 30°. And I am the first one in!
November 23, 2024 at 4:47 PM
We are at 3500 metres, with a gradient to the pools. No problema going down, but I will be giving myself some extra time on the return trip!
November 23, 2024 at 4:41 PM
We need more of this back home - seniors (A. Mayor) half the price of general adult entry. (17.000 = $26)
November 23, 2024 at 4:39 PM
We have arrived early, so while waiting for opening time a chance to check out some of the native flora. It’s quite green out here. Just don’t walk on anything!
November 23, 2024 at 4:30 PM
Chance for a relax before 3 flights home tonight!
November 23, 2024 at 4:28 PM
On my way to the hot springs
