News of a 2nd for Britain late last month - the #ichnuemon wasp Lissonata oculatoria found by Alan Keatley near Langstone Rock. Thanks to @gavinbroad.bsky.social for confirming ID.

The Warren's Oystercatcher are returning for another winter on the Exe, with eight recoveries so far, one ringed here as an adult in Jan 1997 is now at least 30 years old! More details at dawlishwarren.blogspot.com/2025/07/wedn... #UKBirding

No need for a bulb to join #teammoth, a recent selection of daylight finds include the first Burnet Companion and second Mother Shipton for Recording Area and the first Cinnabar and Silver Y of the year.

The first successful mothing of the year saw a total of 129 individuals of 46 species to light, including five new species for the Recording Area; Brindled Beauty, Dark Spectacle, Lunar Marbled Brown, Red Chestnut and Water Carpet, the 813th-817th species for the Warren. Pics Luke Harman #teammoth

A few sparks of blue starting to appear in the fixed dune grasslands but flowers are not always required to add colour. The Warren is one of only two known Devon locations for Mossy Stonecrop but this red carpet must await elsewhere... #WildflowerHour

Sand Crocus has yet to flower this year, and the forecast suggests that will remain the case over the weekend. The mean emergence over the last 20 years is 27th March, first dates ranging between 14th March (2007) & 12th April (2010).

Now is a good time to look for signs of the recently arrived and rapidly spreading Alexanders Straw Aethes deaurana, search the seeds left attached to dead Alexanders for larval exit holes. Then go back in May/June to see the adults. Current Devon distribution devonmoths.uk/micros.php?b...
