Lifelong reader & anti-fascist. Gritting my teeth since 2024.
Also a tub story: I'm washing my hair in shower, ready to rinse, swipe at a lock of dangling hair, and-aaack-it's a spider the size of my thumbnail! I fling it, do one of those cartoon run-in-place shuffles, fall in the tub & break my ankle. Tell the spouse 1)kill spider, 2)call 911. Priorities!

The joy of book clubs isn't reading only "great" books, it's reading and discussing any sort of books with like- and unlike-minded friends, accompanied by your beverage of choice.

I went to Catholic school in the early 60s & I was INTO IT. Then I realized that my Irish grandparents didn't practice & my Grampa wasn't actually RC. I was shocked! He kindly explained he was Episcopalian, which was the same, just didn't believe in the Pope. Now, I'm in the church of nunyabidness

Nutmegger, born & bred here. My daughter brought this home from school in CT a few times. Mommy, are we Christians? The last time she was in high school, and one of the band kids was born again, tho' the rest of his family were too polite to spout this stuff. My kid could hold her own at that point.

Short people! If you wish to spare tall married people embarrassment, just take a walk to housewares, grab a sponge mop, and use it to nudge that thing off the top shelf. Empower yourself, avoid crazy spouses, and don't forget to replace the sponge mop!

I suggest The Lord of Stariel by A. J. Lancaster, Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater, or Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. All are first in a series, so if you like one author, you get multiple books. Yay, amirite?

Is that the sequel to The Mouse That Roared? They were based on a series of Cold War satires by Leonard Wibberley that I really loved back in the day. Iirc Peter Sellers played most of the roles in TMTR.

Also Sam Elliot. Basically, aesthetically, all the same guy.

I picked up The Ringed Castle at a newsstand back in the late 70s-early 80s when I was looking for a cheap historical novel. It was one of the hardest things I ever read, and I couldn't put it down. It took ages to find all the books and read them in order. Dazzling series. Awesome writer.

Why not both?

I heard the same thing about semicolons. Sad that punctuation literacy should be considered the province of LLMs.
