I don't think this is the only baddie in the bunch but so far testing shows that this IC, U31 is causing me problems -- I think 🤔.
I will say that it is the only chip on the 43 year old board with black crusty legs.

There's something about a SEUCK that fulfills a need ... like on those frustrating days ...
and are FANTASTIC if you're trying to wear out an old crappy joystick so that you can justify a replacement!

Pulled out old crummy sockets, placed in new ones .. for a start anyway. Have power .. though so far a black screen.
