I love this about Indonesia’s democracy: while elsewhere vote counting is behind doors, in Ind it is a collective affair, with all present shouting ‘sah!’ if a vote can be counted.

I wrote this opinion piece in Kompas about the need for electoral reform in Indonesia. The campaigns for the upcoming local elections (27 nov) are too expensive and marred by enthousiastic vote buying. The damage is too big to ignore.
