I’m typically a wait-and-see guy, but he’s the first football hire I’ve been excited about in a long time.

Completely agree. I think UF has to offer that type of money to get into the conversation at the 11th hour, and if that’s the going rate for a G5 guy, have fun in Gainesville.
But I hate that we are in a situation again that we have a less-than-ideal fallback option because we screwed up Plan A.

The last “credible” rumors I saw were that it has been Sumrall all along but UF is making a late push after getting spurned by Lane. They are talking $10+ million, which is far more than we are willing to pay for a G5 coach. If that tips the scale in their favor, we will pivot to plan B — DJD.

Right. If I’m someone like Lane Kiffin, I’m telling Cam that the NFL may find him at Auburn, but he’ll have more fun in my offense getting 10 targets per game and being ranked.

This team has talent (for now) but is in desperate need of leadership, discipline, and quality coaching. Just hire a damn good football coach.
