Sudan’s War Enters Third Year: Humanitarian Catastrophe, Fragmented Fronts and Failing Diplomacy
KHARTOUM — Fighting that began on 15 April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces has hardened into a sprawling, multi-year war that showed no sign of abating as of 4 February 2026. Urban battle lines, shifting territorial control and repeated, short-lived ceasefires have failed to halt sustained combat across Khartoum, the Kordofan belt, Darfur and parts of eastern Sudan. The conflict has fragmented central authority, generated mass displacement and produced a humanitarian emergency of exceptional scale. Humanitarian collapse Mass civilian suffering is the most visible consequence on the ground.

Guns and Governance: A Four‑Year Guide to Myanmar’s Civil War and the Regional Stakes
YANGON — Four years after the 2021 coup that toppled a democratically elected government, Myanmar remains locked in a multi‑front civil war that has reshaped the country’s politics, economy, and regional alignments. What began as mass civil disobedience and urban resistance has evolved into a broader insurgency in which ethnic armed organisations, newly formed People’s Defence Forces, and local militias contest territory with the junta’s armed forces. The conflict is no longer a single national crisis but a fragmented, protracted war with shifting frontlines, growing foreign influence, and uncertain prospects for a negotiated settlement.
