Day 17 took me as far as Nagasawa, via Toyohashi. Highlights included the beautiful little shrine of Tukushima Bentensha on a diminutive island in a lake, a shrine featuring a giant white rabbit, and a beautiful example of the Tokaido’s characteristic avenues of pines.

Day 16 was a rest day: doing my laundry, exploring Hamamatsu castle and hoping for a slightly larger room at my next hotel…

Day 15 of the walk ended in the old post town of Futagawa and its beautifully preserved Edo-era streetscape. A highlight is the restored honjin, once an inn for high-class Tokaido travellers and now a museum. #japan #walking #Tokaido
