Obviously, prayer has failed to stop or even stem the scourge of mass shootings in the U.S. Ben Franklin said, “God helps those who help themselves.” We need to rein in firearms and ammo sales. Then put a dollop of prayer on top.

Those of us who remember May 4, 1970 and the fatal shootings at Kent State University know from bitter experience that arming National Guard can/does lead to killing. If there’s a full scale riot going on, or looting after a natural disaster, then using armed NG *may* be justified. Otherwise, no.
