Just another liberal despairing at the World
Merino was signed in late August after a protracted process and a summer where Arsenal signed only him and calafiori of note. I don’t think it’s unfair to say they wasn’t a great window so maybe cut the condescending tone

You may be right. That was just how it looked from the outside

Calafiori was always just a young player needing time to adapt whose progress was hindered by injuries. Clearly been brilliant this season.

My problem with the Merino signing was the way it seemed to take all of Arsenals focus and energy and seemed to get in the way of making other signings. He’s a solid squad player but hardly worthy of the time spent signing him. That might be more reflective of dysfunction pre Berta

His mother is Prue Leith for whatever that is worth

Scotland just qualified for the first time in three decades in an epic game. Almost guaranteed to go out in the Groups though

It’s a bit like England and Germany. Most English fans would say our biggest rivalry is with Germany. German fans are like “what? Our rivals are the Dutch and maybe the French.” They see England as a team they expect to beat

In fairness a lot of English, myself included, like to see the other home nations do well. The hatred is (understandably) one sided. Delighted tonight for Scotland and especially Kieran Tierney

As an English Arsenal fan I couldn’t be happier for him

As another Dad I also endorse this message

Brexit wasn’t about economics but most of the 52% believed the would be no economic downside to their jingoistic project

They also give the impression that he’s very clever and thoughtful when in fact he is neither
November 11, 2025 at 7:48 AM
They are all unforgivable but Laine and Durbin especially so. They aren’t even in competitive seats so don’t have that flimsy excuse
November 10, 2025 at 8:17 AM
Further the Reps were going to take an even bigger hit as things got much worse over the next few weeks so this gives up a huge political win for what? A vote that may not happen and defo won’t pass?

So what am I missing? What rational good faith argument is there to fold? 2/2
November 10, 2025 at 8:08 AM
I’m absolutely baffled by this. Can somebody give me an argument for these senators caving because I simply can’t conceive one.

Last Tuesday was a clear demonstration that this isn’t hurt Dems with the voters and energised the left coalition. Caving destroys that momentum 1/2

Because far too many (most?) of them agree with her

I’m just over the border in Beds but I think I must be in the bucks count by mistake
November 6, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Absolutely but you have to bear in mind Matt wants them to not take those positions on social issues. He wants a party that is shitty to certain minorities but that he can still feel good about supporting
November 4, 2025 at 6:48 PM
It’s amazing how even with the “99%” all voting for him he didn’t even get over 50% in the election.
