He’s saying we haven’t given up our souls to Wonder Bread, pot roast, & light beer.

He’s saying we aren’t American enough.

But history tells us when people say that, what they really mean is:

What Matt Walsh is really saying isn’t about political status—it’s about cultural erasure.

The Irish were told they were too poor & too Catholic.

Italians were mocked for their language & culture.

Jewish immigrants were seen as unassimilable.

Chinese laborers were banned by law.

Dismissing Puerto Rico as "not American" ignores that it’s been a U.S. territory for 125+ years & its residents are U.S. citizens.

The debate over its future is ongoing—just like it was for Alaska & Hawaii.

But this argument isn’t new. Many have been told they weren’t "American enough.”

The definition of "American" has evolved over time.

Alaska & Hawaii were once U.S. territories, like Puerto Rico is today. People claimed they weren’t truly American & would never be states. Yet, in 1959, both joined the Union.

History proves political status isn’t fixed—it changes. 🧵

Because what they are actually doing is much darker. And it involves really silly biblical prophecy.

Christian nationalists align with conservative political ideologies that advocate for smaller government. They believe social welfare should be handled by private charities, churches, and local communities rather than federal or state programs.
