Today’s People’s Daily, CCP’s flagship newspaper, devoted much of its front page to an interview with Ren Zhengfei. Huawei founder touches upon a slew of issues worthy of attention. To me, the most interesting bit is the headline: the more open our country is, the more progress we will make.

Yesterday, my MA students at the class of Media&Communication in Greater China were in for a special treat. In the first hour, Huang Jingrui, spokesman at the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong, came to speak on China’s international communication efforts.

This afternoon, I invited Jennifer Jett, Asia Digital Editor at NBC, to speak to my MA students for the course Media and Communication in Greater China. She shared her rich experiences of working as a journalist in Hong Kong and Chinese mainland. Many thanks to Jennifer!
