The trails often go along steep cliffs, but the climb is worth it for the view. That river bed down at the bottom of the valley is dry 90% of the year, as are most of the rivers in the Sonoran Desert. (That one is called the Agua Fria)

Nearly half of AZ is covered in what's called a cactus forest! Saguaro are all over the place, and can grow as tall as 50 feet in its 200-year lifespan. Rocky terrain and narrow trails are still traversed by horses today, both wild and domestic. I didn't run into any of the wild donkeys in the area this time. The boulders to the left are all over the area, and gave my town it's namesake: Black Canyon. Saguaros and Palo Verde trees often coexist together, with the tree lending stability and shade to the big cactus' shallow root system. This particular saguaro is over 30 feet tall. Their arms don't just always indicate age - they're for balance!

Kiss train blurb inspired by La Cebra Onirica! Part 1 of 2: “Easy. Easy.” Lucifer helped him lay back on the bed. Alastor breathed through the pain pulsing in his chest, smiling softly at his love. Lucifer still looked close to tears, stiff with the aches of his own mental burdens. He tried to smile, and it didn’t quite reach his eyes. Alastor could hardly blame him. It had been a rough day. A day where chronic pain haunted Alastor’s old wound, and persistent sadness weighed down Lucifer’s spirit. On rough days, Alastor knew just what to do. “Luci,” he rasped quietly, glad when the fallen angel snuggled naked and unexpectant against him. Skin to skin, soul to soul. “Will you show me again?” Hell didn’t have stars, but sometimes remembering them helped. The twinkling magic was slow to form at Lucifer’s fingertips, dim at first, but steadily strengthening. As the formations began to take shape in the dark maroon canopy, Lucifer quietly identified the constellations, listing off all the different names some of them had been given through time. Ancient words rolled easily off his tongue, despite his apology for the clumsy attempt – he’d lost some of the most ancient languages long ago. Alastor asked about constellations too far for Earth to see, fleetingly panicked at the stutter in his love’s enthusiasm. He must’ve chosen the right tactic, because Luci slowly brightened, gaining volume and life as he spoke of stars not yet named by humans, or ones with numbers because they were so far away and so numerous there wasn’t enough language to account for them all. Kiss train blurb inspired by La Cebra Onirica! Part 1 of 2: At some point, Alastor lost track of the stars, watching Lucifer’s eyes light up every time he turned to see him listening. He couldn’t get enough of that big smile as he prattled on about knowledge Alastor couldn’t possibly fathom. It was a joy such that the demon felt the edges of his pain soften, if only for a moment. And at some later point, Lucifer paused, watching Al watch him. His smile didn’t fade, so much as shift, growing warmer and smaller. A small spark had returned to Lucifer’s eyes. Alastor huffed, pained not by his body in that moment, but by the depth of care he’d come to know. For a moment, the devotion shared between them felt fathomless, and soft, and deeply healing. Behind the fatigue, and the unfairness of the world, Lucifer’s eyes brimmed with happiness to be right here, right now. Alastor thought his chest could burst with the gratefulness he felt. Lucifer rolled onto his side, reaching up to gently cradle the side of Alastor’s neck, and leaned in for a gentle, lingering kiss. A pouring of love, of healing only by way of knowing this was a safe and quiet place they held for each other. Alastor could do naught but return the gesture, caressing Lucifer’s scarred arm against his aching chest. The stars may have been their refuge when things got rough, but this was what gave them the strength to press on another day.

The tingle of magic in the air made the fluff inside his ears stand up with a prickle–static interference that gave away Lucifer’s approach. Portals opened on either side of him, catching his senses in a disorienting dual pull that messed with his sense of gravity. “Gotcha, bitch!” Lucifer cried triumphantly from the left. Next thing Alastor knew, the air was knocked out of him and he went soaring into the portal at his right. The world around him flashed into the familiar dimness and stale air of an unused room. Where he expected to hit the carpet, the plush spring of the bed met his back instead. A tackle was still a tackle, and Alastor had been caught off guard. Quite literally chased down. Rage mixed with a confusing swirl of attraction and scalding hot lust. Lucifer’s cackling did not help, and the thrill that soared through him as the King of Hell rutted against his lower belly made blood leap to his face almost as fast as it rushed south. “What the fuck, Lucifer?!” Alastor yelled. He froze when his hands clutched Lucifer’s hips to throw him off, contacting smooth, hot skin where he expected tacky white linen. Against his own wishes, his cunt pulsed with a trickle of slick at the realization. “Lucifer… you’re not wearing any pants.” He snickered, thrusting against Alastor’s belly again with a self-satisfied groan, and rucked up his shirt with his bare, throbbing cock in the process. “You are such a cretin!” Alastor shrieked indignantly. “You just flew through a public area with your dick out!” “Pants take too long,” Lucifer replied matter-of-factly, however breathless. He sat up, straddling Alastor’s thighs and leaning back to show off his erection. Flushed gold at the tip and throbbing slightly to his pulse, it stood proudly out from the demure thatch of soft golden curls. His sac rested against the front of Alastor’s trousers, the heat and weight of it resting over his lower abdomen… “Been thinking about you this morning, about how you smell."
