When Google took out the "don't be evil" clause of their mission statement, I was worried it meant they were going to be bad (evil) not bad (poor quality). (Just kidding, those are not mutually exclusive. They are both).

Continuing trying out different films. Exploring higher ISOs now. Cinestill 800 for the color pictures, and Kentmere 400 for black and white. Still learning what proper exposure values should be at various light levels and using my digital camera as a light meter occasionally.

Got scans back from my second roll of film. Did much better than the first, realizing just how much light ISO100 film needs. Camera is showing its age but I was blown away by the colors the Ektar100 produced.

Been seeing amazing clouds while driving home from work lately around sunset, so today I took a detour to Little Squalicum Park. A beach with a long pier. Made for some great pictures.

To give an example of how bad the underexposed pictures were... here are some that Quicksilver Photolabs tried to salvage. These were from Just Block. I thought the light coming in through the windows would be enough... it was not...though you can see people.

Finally got the pictures back from my first roll of film in decades. Most of them were not usable because... I have not used film in forever, and the camera did not have a light meter. Still, these turned out nice. Samoca 35 V using Fujifilm Acros 100.

Recently used @ohpoorpup.bsky.social's services to recap this second hand TEAC CX-350 I bought a few years ago, figuring it probably could use it. I was able to pick it up from her yesterday and it has been fun listening to various tapes throughout today. Sounds cleaner... definitely worth it.

Took a lot of fun pictures in Montreal, but I do love these two from the Charlevoix metro station. The contrast of beautiful, colored glass along the escalator going down with the dark, gated off stairway at the platform to what I assume is a no longer used entrance.

Last night I wanted to go to La Banquise for poutine after the tournament. But even at 1030pm it was packed with a line of thirty out the door. Got piri piri chicken poutine next door instead.
Today I went to get beers with a friend and got traditional poutine.

Did a fair amount of walking around today. Checked in at UMAD, played some games with arcfieri before having to go to NDG for dinner and board games with friends. Tomorrow is the big day of P4AU and Xrd so that will be really fun.

It has been great being back in Montreal. Walking a bit, resting a lot... enjoying good food. Had duck tartare for the first time last night (my first tartare ever) and it was divine. Today for lunch I had a char siu bang mi that was great.

Excited to head out to Montreal tomorrow for UMAD for Xrd, +R, and P4AU. Then next weekend heading down to Seattle for Just Block to play the same three games. And seeing some of the same people at both tournaments will be fun.
