WIP - growing a bit more interesting, though the overall direction this work is taking continues to hover at the edges of my mind - just out of reach of a unifying idea.

Limeade, anyone?

Haven't figured out the trick to eliminating the ugly outputs, but still tinkering.
August 9, 2023 at 4:53 PM
Still playing with this algorithm. Getting some really great results, and some really NOT great results. Hoping I can find the trick to eliminating the ugly ones. The beautifully patterned mixed media works of Delita Martin are my inspiration.

WIP. Inspired by the patterns of Delta Martin's work.

I just scored (at a murderous price) a 50 sheet box of Chicago Albumen Works POP. Stoked!!!! New chemigrams coming soon.

Reading today about Janet Sobel. One of the forgotten women of art history. https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20220307-janet-sobel-the-woman-written-out-of-history

Still doodling as avoidance. I love generative art, but honestly, I want to do as little math as possible. However, I do want to wallow in color.

I committed to myself that I would work through the entire book, Nature of Code, before I let myself go off on any new rabbit trails. I'm having a hard time sticking to it. Doodling as avoidance.

Just playing around with color today.

Quadrangle #53, collected by Nate Nolting. One of my personal favorites of the mints so far. The reserves are more than one half gone. If you want one of the free editions, please check your reserves as soon as possible. https://www.fxhash.xyz/gentk/FX1-75404

With every new project, I reserve some editions to myself, ensuring that my vision of the work is included in the set of final outputs. Just minted this Quadrangle and I'm totally in love with it. The machine and I in symbiosis. @fxhash.bsky.social

I want to bring more of the "topo" into it. Have a look, I think this aspect ratio works well also.
July 16, 2023 at 2:23 PM
Quadrangle of My Being is essentially complete. Here's the final WIP. There are a few release details to be sorted out, but I expect to publish the work in this upcoming week.

WIP: started to look like landscapes seen from high above. That got me to thinking about topo maps. So I had to look up the topo for Spring Hill, Tx, the tiny place in which I grew up. That led to my project shifting a bit. The new working title is "Quadrangle of my Being". Feedback welcome.

The WIP piece has reached the point of being ready to publish. It will be my July release on fx(hash). Holders of my previous work on fx(hash) will be able to mint for free. Cut off for the AL is Friday, 7/14, 5pm CDT.

Daily WIP. I decided to do this to force me to try and build some Bluesky engagement, but I can't decide if it is worthwhile. I might be boring myself to death. Am I boring you to death?

Daily WIP. Analog chemigram meets creative coding. I've been using this project for experimenting and learning, trying to stay open and allowing. That's hard for me to do, to stay with it and see how far it can go.
July 11, 2023 at 10:52 AM
Daily WIP. I am currently exploring the combination of analog chemigrams and creative coding. With these, delving into "to frame or not to frame".

Daily WIP. Analog photographic chemigram + creative coding.
July 9, 2023 at 2:36 PM
The original chemigram. If the term is unfamiliar, chemigrams are made using repeated applications of photographic developer and photographic fixer on black and white dark room paper (or film) in ordinary light. Often a resist is used. In this case lacquer. The patterns and color arise naturally.

Daily WIP. At least I aspire to a daily post. Let's see if I can sustain it. Analog photographic chemigram combined with creative coding.

Another output from my current WIP. There are several inspirations for the work. One is Matisse's paper cutouts. Another is my fascination with the Bouba/kiki effect, an extension of my interest in intuitive symbolic expression and asemic writing systems.
