An eight ton Spinosaurus searches for its next meal 95 million years ago in shallow waters of what is today Egypt. With a massive crocodile-like head and enormous muscular body, this terrifying carnivore was larger than the Early Cretaceous Suchomimus and may have been mightier even than the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex of approximately the same period.

Mollusk of the subclass Ammonoidea in a Jurassic sea 195 million years ago. This specimen's planispiral shell is about six inches in diameter. Ammonites were plentiful in the Earth's oceans for about 400 million years becoming extinct, along with the dinosaurs, about 66 million years ago during the Cretaceous–Paleogene (K–Pg) extinction event. While resembling modern shelled nautiloids, these once plentiful mollusks are more closely related to living octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish.

The “sunward” side of this brown dwarf reveals a gas giant similar in appearance to the planet Jupiter. Unlike Jupiter, this brown dwarf is 13 to 65 times more massive while its diameter is only slightly greater than Jupiter’s due to its greater density. Also, unlike Jupiter, the shaded side reveals a relatively dim magenta glow, a result of lithium and/or deuterium fusion.

Below the plains extending down to Mars' terminator and beyond is the heavily cratered Terra Sabaea. Clouds of water-ice crystals form at the terminator between light and dark.

Flying fauna over Gliese 581 c Flying life forms grace the skies of the potentially earth-like extrasolar planet Gliese 581 c. The red dwarf star Gliese 581 rests on the horizon, presiding over a liquid water sea. Eclipsing the red dwarf is Gliese 581 b, a sister planet in the same system with a mass 17 times that of the Earth.
