That’s really insightful. There’s often a cognitive dissonance at play here too, where the advantageous person quickly attributes their success to their competence rather than their patron.

There’s a really good podcast on this, it was never meant to be linear but Elizabeth Kubler-Ross always said her work was misinterpreted. I’ll try to find the link, it was either Unlocking us (Brene Brown) or ReThinking (Adam Grant)
