Reading, writing, rambling & growing things by the sea in Dublin. Half Dub, half Nordie. Getting more pagan in my old age. PR pro. News nerd. LUFC fan for my sins. She/Her.
It's been a Sunday well spent on the balcony. Seeds down. Saplings repotted. Sun soaked up. And halfway through this week's bookclub read.

Just before January slipped away on Friday night, I got my list of things for the year out into the world.

A petition for new year intentions to be made on 31st of January rather than the 1st.

How we were raised in my house:

Football: Anyone but United.

International Football: Anyone but England.

Provincial Rugby: Anyone but Ulster.

And of course...

Factchecking needed, I'm pretty sure they're all fluent in English.

For all apprehensions of what a FFFG+Inds coalition could bring, worth saying Harry Blaney Bridge has been transformative for businesses, locals & visitors on the 2 peninsulas.

Scooting over to Downings for a few Goose & Gander pizzas to bring back (still hot) to Fanad?? We don't know ourselves.

Not much to raise a glass about tonight but sure lookit.

Given the state of the past year, even just around the corner from this polling station, it feels a huge privilege and honour to give my 1 & 2 to two women who are proudly the child/grandchild of immigrants. Let's go @hazelchu.bsky.social & @ivanabacik.bsky.social!

OK, may've had too heavy hand on the cider vin for the chutney... she's spicy, she's lairy, she's a 90s ladette downing pints of stella.

Arriving home as it cooled on the hob, my sister said she could taste it through her eyeballs.

Recommendations for a mild/creamy cheese to mellow this one out??

A winter fridge clear out dinner - mustardy leeks, mushrooms, garlic & roasted cauliflower topped with feta & toasted breadcrumbs, served with braised red cabbage.

Used cauliflower florets & stalks and both breadcrumbs & cabbage came out of the freezer.

Reading habits have been pretty poor in recent weeks but thankfully you can always rely on a Kate Atkinson to suck you back in 📚

This is a Tolu Makay appreciation post.

Second time seeing her live last night - an experience that actively calms nervous systems & fills cups. She writes for your soul, her voice is stupifyingly good & my god the unbridled joy.

Her gigs should be prescribed by GPs at least twice a year

Cannot pass up the oppprtunity to share one of my favourite fun facts - years ago I worked in a bar where we had a portrait of a seal (a bizarre pub quiz prize, obviously) hanging on the wall. One night Mark Ronson was in and the stars aligned for the best pun in action ever.

This is Brigette, a puppy-in-training with Autism Assistance Dogs Irelands. Our team had the privilege of naming her back in February (born of Bridget's Day to a French mum!) And she got to come visit us in the office today to show us what a good girl she is. We're all very much in love ❤️

It has only taken five months for the first prints to go up on the living room walls and they've immediately been adorned with Christmas lights.

Fierce hygge in here now so it is

Scrumptious @nigelslater.bsky.social inspired brunch this afternoon...

(To be read in your best Masterchef voice please)

... buttery, mustardy leeks & porcini mushrooms on a toasted bagel, topped with a fucktonne of cheddar & parmesan, plus a heavy splash of Worcestershire.

Appropriate really, that The Mirror & The Light is on telly at the moment.

Quite a bleak but necessary read from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

The dawning realisation that this is going to be a groundhog day election... at least we'll finally know what is actually worse - waking up to some fresh hell after an election, or waking up to the same shit on a different day 🙄

And a few more snaps...

Curious reading. Last of the tomatoes. Crystal clear evenings. Homemade Temple Dhal.

A few postcards from the week that was.

Foggy mornings. Scrumptious sandwiches from Tír. Crisp November evenings. Good energy.
