Growler was less than pleased that I interrupted her nap. #caturday

Really, all mine? ... Zooomies

For those who don't remember - TVs used to have VHF (very high frequency) channels from 2 to 13 where the major networks were. Then there were UHF (ultra hf) which were a different dial! Univision was on UHF. Something like this picture. You turned top dial to U and then picked your uhf channel.

It is magic-hole-in-the-floor season, for those who celebrate (e.g. our cats). Here is Growler, enjoying the warm air.

Was texting with my brother

Not shown, because the picture was blurry but 5 minutes later, Dustbunny took about 10 seconds to open the door from paw to body width. She's the one in the background.

Taking advantage of beautiful fall weather - feels like early September - to reclaim the concrete pad where the shed used to be. My plan is to put a grill there.

Little Dustbunnythe pillbug (woodlouse, roly-poly, not sure your regional name but there are a lot of them) suggests curling up for a nap

Have some roses! I transplanted him this year from a place that didn't get any sun and they love it.

Kid is with us for a few days. Left her sitting on the porch and got several texts in short succession. This was the preview I saw lol.

Have a waterlily. It's in a smallish temporary pond; I'd like to make a bigger one at some point.

I don't pre-order a huge number of books, but it's a lovely feeling, a present to myself from past-me, when one arrives unexpectedly. Today's gift was Sugar Shack by @lucyknisley.bsky.social who's on a book tour starting today (pure coincidence, I'm sure)

Dixie riddle cups! I'd argue iconic but very much of their time rather than timeless.

Cleaning out the Volvo because the kids will be using it this coming week. Including tools stashed under seats. I think I can probably cut this back to one or two for them.

My kindle now!

Have to give our builder props for photography skills. He managed to photograph this in such a way that the inspector gave it a thumbs up.

Day of the big neighborhood sale. M's going to drop me off with my wagon. I was double checking my list of things to take and the last item sure looks like measles. "Meas tape" i.e. measuring tape, actually.

One of the kittens left me a present.

Update on the kittens who are finally both out their jammies (unsurprisingly, Dustbunny whose attitude was "everything is misery I shall just lay here" healed better than Growler who wanted to continue to bounce around). These two pill bugs are laying on a dog bed in my study a couple days ago.

Dustbunny, not feeling well, but recovering from her spay surgery in a onesie, so I don't have to try to keep a cone on her. Growler is more active in her recovery and more likely to jump in my lap and demand petting.

Safe to say one of the kittens (Growler) is enjoying the happy juice, post spay. (Dustbunny is grumpy and hiding)

As I pulled it out I managed to pierce my finger enough to create a classic drop of blood. I haven't slept since. Tonight we find out if it was just insomnia or a rose curse. To be fair to the vegetable kingdom, I was doing yard cleanup and did duck under one rose. The thorn is still where I left it

Crossposting from Mastodon. I feel this, as someone who has maintained, written, and converted COBOL code.

The gadabout cat I posted about earlier has returned safely. So there's one good thing. To celebrate, here's a picture of our Growler, perched on the back of a chair on the deck. (P.S. Don't tell her about Toni's escapades; I don't want her getting ideas)
