Love the idea, I agree the output can be improved 😄 (though it's not an easy one shown here, not sure if I could do better...)

Pleasantly surprised Peter Larsen coffee has roasting date on it 👌

Thanks for talking openly about this, Pete. It’s a rather taboo topic, especially in startup world.

I recognise the self-trickery of “a breather is around the corner”, which typically doesn’t come, isn’t enough and isn’t a solution to the root causes of the stress.

Been buying beans from Ricco’s on Istedgade for years. 4x250gr for 200kr. Freshly roasted, various options. The best price-quality ratio I’ve found! AFAIK none of the other Ricco’s do this deal.

(Most supermarket beans have no roast date, so it can be a year old, with noticeable effect on espresso)

I make fine coffee without a PID and I’m not expert :)

Can’t deny all-in-one is convenient! Note that with Sage, if grinder or espresso machine breaks, you may lose both. On forums I’ve heard mixed things about their reliability and repeatability. I quite liked the smarts but in the end I went with a second hand separate setup.

If a steamer is low prio, you can get away with a single boiler like Rancilio Silvia (small, low maintenance, cheap). If you plan to foam milk regularly, get a heat exchanger. The automation from the Sage is impressive, though low(er)-tech has its benefits, like being cheaper to service.

Neat! How about an immersive monitor with those ambient blocks in the background and the info overlaid on top…?

I think the compounding effect is often under-appreciated. In isolation, each little point of friction may not be a dealbreaker. But added together it hurts how people feel about the product, even if they can’t articulate it, exactly because it’s not one clear pain point.

Yes, this! I was also thinking of making an "Instagram for public domain art" a few years ago. How amazing if it could find relevant artists (not just of the same art movement, but related ones) based on the kind of art you like? Like a rabbit hole for art appreciation instead of, you know, rage 🙂
