I remember reading the random strip occasionally as a kid. I can't remember if read any collections from the library. Possibly. As a kid it was one of those strips that was hard to follow because of its continuity and I might not been able to read the previous or next strip.

There are people who understand languages but don't speak them. I wonder if there has been a professional translator who has fallen into that category.

The 70s was truly the era of malaise in Northern American comics. Besides the strips there was barely anything interesting in the mainstream and the alternative scene was in its infancy

I didn't manage to finish it in time before seeing OBAA but it did have more meat to its bones and more of an interesting setting. Did you think PTA managed to capture Pynchon's weirdness with Inherent Vice?

I guess the occasional comedic elements can make up the both sideism for most of the viewers. I’ve tried to think why people have latched onto the film after seeing it despite agreeing with your and Austin English’s takes on it.
