A big ol normie. I like engineering related stuff, parenting related stuff, Destiny 2, random crafty nerd projects, what have you. Boring reply guy 🤘

Been drilling and tapping my right stick for a while now. Max sensitivity is crazy consistent with a hall effect joystick. I absolutely love it.

Maybe cloud is a victim of its own success RN. I use Onshape for work and hobby stuff and it's so much more reliable than CAD on a local machine that I never even think about how much extra crap I used to do. We instantly forgot how much of a pain everything was as soon as it wasn't.

Just to clarify I identify with a lot of the anxiety around the AI hype but I place it at the foot of Roko's basilisk AGI venture capital hypebeasts. The amount of AI we need to me seems like the amount we're actually using to very little hype. Some of it is great!

Is it the same hardware? I'd imagine there's a good deal of machine learning/neural network stuff done for things like demand forecasting but things like CAD are strictly procedural and can't be significantly parallelized.

Tony how can you aim with that thing on there

I’ve wanted to look into this in earnest for so long. I used to shoot guns all the time but it was too much of an ordeal and expense. I feel like you could do archery anywhere for like no money.

Stuff like this makes me wonder if there's a place for other channels in nixpkgs to basically make another OS with the different little flags and stuff people compile with.

Extremely down on all cross media anything at this point. Referring to art as intellectual property feels like extreme dehydration.

Trade shows being so over the top will never cease to irk me. I have no clue as to the economics involved but it's surreal that going to a big room and standing around can be made into what it currently is.

If there's some crazy demos and whatnot that's more understandable. Industrial robots? Ok.

Worldline zero? You have my full attention. Please make it absurd and game breaking.

The fact that they very successfully adapted a standard Western to bouncers and dive bars somehow will always amaze me. How could you possibly expect to nail the tone of something like that? Hollywood now could never greenlight something that stupid with a real budget.

"Pain don't hurt" is simultaneously so self indulgent yet actually a little profound and it takes place in a scene where a guy keeps his college transcripts in his medical records for some reason and successfully picks up a doctor in the emergency room. Possibly my favorite scene of any movie.

I'm not sure I'm up for the big config party with the flakes and whatever text files you tweak hyprland with but it looks really cool.

Season of plunder seemed out of left field to me. Eliksni history seems so central to the game that I thought it deserved more gravitas, but destiny is pretty bleak a lot of the time if you take out the silly, so 🤷‍♂️.

of the tree of silver wings. The scale of it seems to really hit you in those two instances. I don't know if it hits the same without the lore but it gets so immersive.

Awe was the core of several of my most memorable moments in Destiny. The first time I saw the opening to the big spire in Last Wish right after the big ogre pretty much floored me. Same for looking back at the route you take through the black garden in GoS and realizing the cliff was the stump...

If I'm being honest I don't know what those guys from anduril/the other broey companies even wanted to do differently, but their tweets gave me the willies.

I wish I knew enough to match my emotional investment but I will absolutely never be able to follow the narrative of what's gone down the past few weeks.

I do too! But like, I also have strong feelings about hot sauces. There can be lots.

They've finally managed to take the jobs of my kids trying to stall bedtime.

The second answer to all of these is that KDE, cinnamon, lxde or whatever it's on now, almost too many to name. Like, to no detriment to anything. Unless I'm missing some serious context here about the humor this is incomprehensible.

Anti gnome? How is anyone anti any desktop environment?

Damn that's the mildest statement I've ever seen get a block.
