the top right-hand version is the clearest in my opinion. i think you know straight away where you are. i have the impression that in the others the eye is a bit lost.
the bottom right version is pretty good too if the "option" and "close" were reversed! (maybe)

thank you! no, I don't have any tips in particular! the key is time! you need to have a start and an end, then make the transition as smooth as possible and spend some time on it!
