I thought this version was now available on Disney+. Is it not? This movie is an annual Christmas Eve tradition for us.

The biggest drawback to Amazon is the $9.99 cap on eBooks. If you price at $10+, they cut your royalty in half. That rubs people the wrong way because it limits them. I'm cool with that because I simply write shorter books. I then sell two books at $9.99 instead of one @ $19.99.

People in the replies are mentioning libraries. I can't think of a worse way to support authors. I think I get $0.30 every time my book is borrowed. I make $5-6 every time I sell an eBook on Amazon.

Honestly, as an author, I am sticking with Amazon. I know some people despise them, but I'm thankful that they provide me an easy-to-use platform for sales, marketing, discovery, and fulfillment. All I need to worry about is writing and occasional ads. Worth the 30% commission IMHO.

I always thought that was the case for me. However, I think it finally came down to the company. Ever since starting at Disney, I really don't have a desire to leave. I still do side gigs, but I've loved the 13 years I've been here and look forward to at least 12 more before I retire.

I’m glad I’m past that stage of my career. 😀

For similar reasons, I’ve even been using VS Code and Markdown to write all my books. Each chapter is a file. Everything goes into git. When it’s time to submit to Amazon, I run some Pandoc scripts and they do all the heavy lifting.

There is great danger in being perceived as a spokesman when you aren’t one. 😅

That’s cool that he attended Sanderson’s class. My daughter is at BYU now and wants to take it, too.

Are you feeling that someone needs to be cut into little pieces? 😂

I don't recognize the book by those passages. What book is it?

I too hope it’s a one off. Keep us posted. I haven’t flown Delta in a year or so, since getting a companion pass on Southwest. When that expires, I’m planning to go back to Delta. 🤞

Rent a car? Are you going to DC itself or the surrounding area? I grew up there so it doesn’t feel intimidating, but I understand how it can be.

Atlanta to DC? I’d be tempted to drive at this point. It’s one day and less aggravation.

I was asked to sign an employment contract that would give ownership of any “works of authorship” to the employer. I politely declined and sought employment elsewhere.
