As our summer–fall walking schedule wraps up, it’s time to share an update on our progress walking all the residential streets in 204 #Calgary communities.

With winter approaching, we’re adjusting our schedule—shorter walks, often through Calgary’s emerging neighborhoods.

Today’s walk took us back to #Edgemont to cover the streets in its southwest corner. One of our most challenging walks since we began our odyssey, with the elevation dropping 41 metres from north to south.

All other measures probably differ from Calgary averages due to how new the community is and its ongoing evolution.

The land for Pine Creek was annexed in two phases: east of Sheriff King Street in 2005, and west in 2011.

Construction of the development began in 2019, and the community remains under extensive development today.

At the 2021 census, #PineCreek had a population of only 245.

Up to about 2018, the land that would become Pine Creek and used mainly for ranching, grazing and dryland farming. Little had been built on the land by 2020 The east and the west sides of the community starting to come together by 2022 The last satellite image available is from 2024

Yesterday, we completed walking all of the publicly accessible, occupied residential streets in #PineCreek.

In the process, we covered a distance of 15.90 kilometres.

This marks the 178th #Calgary community that we have now completed.
