We’ve a late 18th century Irish language manuscript with a seal-skin binding @theriversideucc.bsky.social @ucclibrary.bsky.social Élodie Lévêque confirmed it with a microscope some years ago. The images show how under a microscope the binding resembles fish scales.

The first of three classes today arrived at 9:30 to view Medieval & Renaissance English items & items of modernity. One book treated like a scrapbook? What does the music on the #fragment sound like? How are titles/images representative of ‘modernity’? Lots to answer! @theriversideucc.bsky.social

Earlier this week we used the same items for 50 students in 4 different classes: Imperial history item & political cartoons for two 3rd year history modules & MA in #DH; an Irish language manuscript for MA in Early & Medieval Irish & MA in #DH. Our items are multidisciplinary. #UCCLibrary #UCC
