"Something only a plumber can fix" is basically what I'm thinking at this point! It's not pressure, it's not settings, it's not air in the radiators, so... it's something I'm not qualified to fix, haha. Thank you for your advice regardless!

ADHD haver here and I've definitely had "I'm naked somewhere I shouldn't be", "oh fuck The Exam is tomorrow" and "I'm late for work/I forgot I had work today" so I don't think they're exclusive to neurotypicals!

Haven't had "give a presentation but you aren't prepped" though!

I believe it's a "classic se15 ff", not that that means anything to me!
Thing is the radiators were on like a week ago, and we've changed absolutely no settings so I don't think it's likely to be that. They just stopped getting hot three days ago, though one stayed warm for a little before giving up

Just click, haven't heard it ignite recently. We do have hot water though so presumably it's turning on at *some* point, just not explicitly when I'm turning the thermostat up

Longer version of the problem, if anyone has any thoughts I'm all ears. We *do* have a plumber coming in a week but it's bloody cold *now*
November 20, 2025 at 12:57 PM
Right. I've upped the boiler pressure to the appropriate level. I've bled all the radiators where the valve can be turned, but on most the screw head is fucked so I can't get a bite. We've otherwise got hot water. The thermostat goes "click" to announce it's turned on. But no radiators heat up. Help

No, just wearing our coats atm! Just popped out and it's literally the same temp inside and out, only difference is the breeze!
November 20, 2025 at 12:04 PM
Alas, I don't think I have a radiator key nor do I really know how to do this. Plumber is coming in about a week but it's bloody freezing until then :(

This turned out not to work. Still no central heating. No idea what's going on any more, but it's day three of the house being freezing cold :( I'm worried about the cats

I remember staying up all night for the potato-power portal 2 ARG where players were like.. charging up the release of P2 by playing games with potato easter eggs added in by indie devs. Cool way to bring attention to smaller developers. 100% certain the timer was fixed though

Ah, there's a pressure gauge on the water tank upstairs. It was reading below the green area so I figured out how to fill it with more water to raise the pressure. Fingers crossed!

Im honestly not sure what you're referring to. Theres only a dial and an on off switch on the face of it

Easy to get defensive of the things you like when you're young, even when you're wrong! I recall getting huffy as a kid about Dragon Ball Z "copying" its characters transforming from Super Sonic in the Sega games. Similar case of not knowing which one came first, but try telling 13 year old me that!

I did watch the Long Walk! It was good!

I've not watched The Hunger Games, though. I think maybe I watched the first one and it was not for me.

Oh this is wonderful. We had some similar art on the wall of the pub I grew up in, and some photos that I can't put a date on - but they had horse-drawn carts and a tram visible!

Think when the pub changed hands the owners ditched it all, cause it's not there now. Glad you found yours!

the warm one is nearest to the water tank i think. I genuinely have no idea how boilers/water tanks work i just know there's one thing in the kitchen and a big tank upstairs. as for number do you mean the little dial where you set the temperature from 1 to 6 or whatever? cause that's up at 6
November 18, 2025 at 9:19 AM
Haven't got a bloody clue how to troubleshoot this either. Heating dial went "click" so that's on, boiler feels warm to the touch. *One* radiator is warm, but not hot. All the others stone cold.

I think the hot water has a timer thing but you need a degree from NASA to figure one of those out

i watched the soft reboot/sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer recently and it has a bunch of flashbacks/plot points from the past that are all from 1997 and I realised then that they're using those in the same way movies from that era used the 50s/60s as backstory set dressing

My intention is that whenever I'm bored I'll do this somewhere populated but slightly out of the way and immediately stop if anyone comes to look
