Just had my busiest weekend since opening last year. Met some great people, sent loads of wonderful books to new homes, pet many cute dogs. I love this little bookshop so much.

It’s the kind of dark, rainy Sunday that books and tea were made for. Like this new release from @stmartinspress.bsky.social - it’s such an immersive journey through time and place to meet the characters keeping some of the world’s most unique traditions alive. Loved it! #custodiansofwonder

Picked up Wildlife Compendium of the World this morning and this is the page I opened it to. Totally unintentional. What are the chances?

So nice to see our local paper publish a lovely piece on our first author event with pilot & traveller Lola Reid Allin. She was here to promote her new book Highway to the Sky and gave us a fantastic talk on the history of women in aviation. Hopefully the first of many more events to come!

Number four, Flâneuse: Women Walk the City in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Venice, and London. Yes, we women also enjoyed strolling and observing city life, but we are often written out of accounts of such activities. This meander through time, literature, art, and film is a jewel.

Third, Walking the Invisible by Michael Stewart. Part biography, part history, all a fantastic stroll through the Brontës lives & landscape.

Next up, Alan Booth’s classic The Roads to Sata: A 2000 Mile Walk Through Japan. A beautifully told tale of a remarkable adventure.

Five faves from the walking shelf… up first, A Philosophy of Walking. One of my all time favourite books, a great rumination on walking and thinking.
