Open weekend starts today at Chin Chin Brewery, South Kirkby at 1pm. Easy to get to, short walk from Moorthorpe station or 496 bus passes near also.

It's the beer festival in Newmillerdam at the Scout Hut this weekend, Fri 6pm & Sat 1pm. Use Stagecoach 59 bus which now runs in the evening. Press the button after Dam Inn and get off at the Fox&Hounds, the hut across from this pub. Support these 2 fantastic pubs also by popping in for a beer.

It's the East vs West Beer Festival organised by Five Towns Brewery Wakefield and held at The Red Shed from 5pm Thursday May 1st running through the Bank Holiday weekend. As usual there is a great beer list which you can see here.

Final day in Belgium was a visit to Jessenhofke Brewery, a fantastic organic brewery with a good beer tasting session from brewer Gert.

Congratulations to James Williams at Boons Horbury for receiving our "Tetley Dave" Award. James has for 15 years run Boons as a fantastic real ale pub including a yearly beer festival. "Tetley Dave" was a legendary Castleford landlord who we name this award after.
