Yeah, the "existential threat" of NATO expansion is not to Russia, but to Russian imperialism. If they can't bully and invade their neighbors with abandon, Putin's dream of remaking the Russian empire a third time is dead, and with it, any fantasies of superpower Russia and its special destiny.
