The 3rd river in hell is the phelgethon. It is in the 7th circle (violence) but runs throughout and doesn’t explicitly separate anything. It is a river of boiling blood. Although mostly used for torture, the blood has some use in very ancient rituals that are unknown to most.

Then there is another River Styx. Same name different river. This one separates the sins of flesh (a lack of self control) from the sins of malice (intending to do evil/harm). Found at the halfway point in the 5th circle (anger).
