Ok but as that article also notes, a lot of the corn and soy grown in those states is used as feed for animals we eat (~95% of Americans eat at least some meat). Which is food. It’s not an efficient way to produce food! But it’s food.

I’ve seen stats saying CA produces 1/3 or more of the country’s *produce* (fruits, veg, nuts) but that’s not quite the same as 1/3 of the *food* Americans eat.
(To be clear I’m not agreeing with the red map guy, but as long as we’re doing fact checking, just trying to follow the data.)

Out of curiosity, what’s your link/source for the California / one-third of food America eats stat?
For instance I found this from USDA saying CA accounts for 11% of agricultural sales value in the U.S. www.ers.usda.gov/data-product...

You can't hurry leaves
No, you'll just have to rake
Just trust in a clean lawn
No matter how long it takes
And now rake!
Now leaves, leaves
They keep on falling
And I keep on raking
My hands are shaking
No, you'll just have to rake
Just trust in a clean lawn
No matter how long it takes
And now rake!
Now leaves, leaves
They keep on falling
And I keep on raking
My hands are shaking

No, you’ll just have to rake
Shred them up on your lawn now
Or compost them for goodness’ sake 🎵
