Hi, not sure about any direct relation to Jack Wannop as I haven't been too far back in the lineage. I might check with me old man.
Anyways, my understanding is that Wannop is derived from Wainhope, which is just north of Kielder.

Interesting that. I'm a Wannop and believe me, I've had every misspelling and mis-pronunciation under the sun!
