Book #55 for 2024. 5* such a great memoir by a young woman raised by a narcissistic woman, posted into Hollywood where she was chewed up and spat out. 📚🇳🇿

5th read of the Booker short list. Only Stone Yard Devotional left to go. It’ll be hard to pick a winner but I think The Safe Keep is my favourite so far.

4th book I’ve read of this years Booker short list. Really enjoyed it, in a contemplative way. Quite opaque at times, but dreamy and philosophical. Enjoyed it, 4* 🇳🇿📚

Working through the Booker short list, this is the third I’ve read, three to go. Five stars, amazing book, will stay with me. 📚🇳🇿

Book #41 for 2024, can’t believe it took me 10 years to get round to this one! 5*, will definitely check out more from this author. 📚🇳🇿

Book #39 for the year. I gave it 5 stars, the first Barbara Kingsolver novel I’ve read, but keen to check out some more. Sad, poignant, captivating story of a child growing up in poverty in southern Appalachia. 🇳🇿📚

Book #37 for 2024. 3* out of 5. Quite witty but a bit too convoluted and drawn out. Interestingly the author wrote the pina colada song! 🇳🇿📚

Book #33 for the year, 5⭐️, an amazing read! A story of a dysfunctional white South African family and their relationship with each other and the land. Haven’t read any of his before, but I’ll definitely look out for him. 📚🇳🇿

Book #23 for 2024. 3* for this one, maybe I’m 30 years too late? The descriptions of life in Mumbai were all that kept me reading to the end.

22nd book for 2024. Only gave it 3*, found it quite dated. Interesting story and concepts but none of the characters grabbed me. Might give the movie Go! 📚🇳🇿
