You have just one enemy in life - the Conservative Party.
As he will with the Epstein files.

I will be amazed if the files incriminate Trump.
Not even he would be stupid enough to release them if they did.

Cases are evaluated against profiles of the country of origin and information is constantly being updated. Determining refugee status isn’t the biggest issue. Genuine claims are recognised quickly and status is granted. The real (and many) issues lie with refusals.
We can chat, too long on here.

All arrivals are fingerprinted automatically at the point of claim.
DNA samples aren’t and would of course bring extra costs with storage, creation and maintenance of a database. Unfortunately, for those who are undocumented, neither fingerprints nor DNA would provide proof of nationality.

MAGA are not FOR anything or anyone.
They are AGAINST everything that Trump is against - and given that he’s one of the most prejudiced, bitter and hateful people on earth, it’s hard to identify anyone he’s for. Apart from paedophiles, that is.
Above all, MAGA are against American values.

Indeed.
I used them as an example of how a country situation could fundamentally change.

But Mahmood’s plan would be deeply flawed for those refugees of longstanding in the UK - which is why there would need to be a case by case approach.
I can see both sides of the argument.

Which paragraph of the 1951 Convention specifies that refugee status must be permanent? My understanding is that the Convention affords temporary protection, given that conditions can fundamentally change. EG if the Ukraine conflict ends, there would no longer be a need for international protection.

I’m setting out what the Convention says and what a safe, legal route would result in.
I’m loathe to reveal anything private on this platform, but as to your accusation that I don’t care about asylum seekers, I have in the past volunteered for an organisation which helps them.

100% - preferably accompanied by rent controls linked to local council tax rates for domestic properties.

There is nobody, within a million miles of Labour’s front bench, who is remotely left wing.
Moreover, Labour is no longer a “democratic socialist” party like it says on the tin.
If you don’t believe me, just check out the source of donations for the Cabinet.

I remember when a violent mob of imbecilic morons rioted at the Capitol on behalf of THE worst person on the planet.

As James Bond said to Pussy Galore about Goldfinger:
“He’s quite mad you know”.
November 15, 2025 at 7:51 AM
There is an argument, however, for a more equitable distribution of claims across European countries - but the UK would resist because we take far less claims than Germany or France for example. The 1951 Convention is out of date in a modern world and needs a comprehensive overhaul.
Political will?

There is no requirement under the Refugee Convention for “safe, legal routes”. Rather, a state can provide SPECIFIC schemes such as the Ukrainian visa scheme. The idea that the UK should provide a safe, legal route for anyone to come here and claim asylum is absurd & would create a huge pull factor.

Let’s see if it’s enough to assuage Trump’s thirst for revenge and his insatiable greed for $$$$.
In my lifetime, one of the most rancid people I’ve ever seen.
