in terms of more fun incidental headcanons, my emet is gay and he likes building dioramas and panning bad bodice rippers; thancred has a lazy eye and is bi and dating urianger but still kind of half closeted; and ryne loves entomology and is super interested in beetles. and is a lesbian obv.

emet is also directly a metaphor for death as h*des, and thancred is meant to mirror demeter and needs to give up certain patriarchal behaviors and properly care for his son enough to save him from death. bc obviously pfeil is persephone lol. i feel like that kind of changes everyone.

all this context is an important element of my emetwol, because emet as pfeil's partner is kind of stuck having to have some opinion on it, and thancred is extra suspicious of emet in my story bc he sees emet as preying on his super vulnerable unstable son. (he isnt right but he also isnt wrong lol)

anyway, all that family drama is the context which informs thancred and pfeil's interactions with ryne. pfeil doesn't resent her but he has similar feelings about her being the favorite, SHE resents HIM for being the favorite, he fights with thancred over his parenting of her, etc etc.

minfilia and pfeil get along really well and like one another, but pfeil also has a little resentment about minfilia being The Favorite. so in the HVW patches when she becomes word of the mother, thancred accuses pfeil of failing to save her on purpose. which obvs only makes that relationship worse.

pfeil's stepdad was very abusive to him growing up, so even though he has amnesia for this until STB, pfeil has massive resentment toward thancred for not saving him or being there for him, and they fight a LOT. in my canon thancred also sees minfilia as his daughter, so this plays in.

starting with thancred. he's five years older in my canon (so 37 in ARR), and he's my wol pfeil's biological father. he was not present in pfeil's life and they only met in ARR in the same way as in canon. he can't tell pfeil in time, so lahabrea ends up revealing it. nightmare.
