the flat color shapes are really easy to draw over. I can draw new poses or shadows without messing any color gradients or lines up.
this lets me use what I know about 3D in conjunction with what im currently learning about drawing, to make a combined medium.

lately I really like using flat colors in 3D animation because it masks a lot of the mesh/shading related issues with deforming 3D models.
there are down sides, you wont get dynamic shadows, and outlines dont work well because they expose whats within the shape silhouettes, however -

this was my most liked artwork on twitter because some behind the scenes stuff caught the algorithm.
its also the first 3D render I fully drew lineart and light over. (you can see my layer mistakes on the energy balls). it was big step for me on the 3D -> 2D move
