After a bit of trial and error (classic construction!), we figured out the best technique for setting the roof arc: forming the arc before hoisting the logs to the top. Now, to keep them safe, we'll be watering them down to prevent drying and splitting.

Progress Report! We had an amazing #longhouseworkday yesterday, complete with perfect weather! We successfully pulled the remaining logs from the pond.

On September 13, 2025, we completed a productive longhouse workday.
We debarked logs and added them to the longhouse after leveling the existing standing logs. The structure is now ready for matting on the sides and a roof on top. Currently, the remaining debarked logs are soaking in the pond to 1/3

Together, we successfully cut back numerous invasive species, relocated rescued plants to an area where they can begin to thrive, identified several native species, and even had a critter or two stop by!
