On this day in 1790, the Indigenous Northwestern Confederacy defeats US Army General Josiah Harmar's campaign of American territorial expansion. The Americans, after defeating the King who'd limited their expansion, immediately set to work installing themselves as monarchs over the west.

Carcerality is one of the main aspects of settler colonialism. Removal of Indigenous peoples and the restriction of their movement (as well as that of anyone who would aid them.) Gaza is treated as an open-air prison. Residential schools were a kind of prison.

While today some anarchists in and outside of Ukraine vehemently support that state even as it engages in conscription and imprisonment, it's important to remember that most historical anarchists, such as Michel and Malatesta, were vehemently against militarism and conscription.
