As the second war broke out, Alistair felt a duty to defend the good he had in his life. Before faring off to unknown lands to fight for unknown men, he married Eilidh and took her memory with him as he marched off.

Alistair found remorse where he could, and fell in love with the neighbouring Eilidh, the daughter of the McLachlan family, where he filled out the duties left in empty hands after the end of 1918.
