You’re preaching to the choir (from 20 years ago). We chatted up a couple next to us at a bar last night. the guy said he wasn’t going to make it to his 10:30 reservation downtown because he’s 50 and was already flagging at 8:30. I slid my bifocals down my nose and just said Dude, really? (I’m 74)

Obamacare subsidies are the acknowledgment that Americans can’t afford our current healthcare system, so the deal became that private insurance companies, PBMs, and healthcare providers could continue to take their enormous cuts and we the people will subsidize them

And there it is in a nutshell: privatization with market-sensitive pricing will always tend toward the lowest common denominator of coverage in order to be profitable, whether it’s insurance, broadband, mail delivery… anything that we rely on as a necessary service or commodity

Obviously all the grad students who are grading should rubber stamp papers in order to avoid blowback like this. They should just give every paper a D and be done with it.
