Umamusume: Pretty Derby (2018) (rewatch)

God I love Umamusume. It's been a while since I've watched the first season and this time I tried to without subtitles (スーパー日本語上手). I love Spe and Suzuka's relationship and the emotional moments still got me. Anyways watch Cinderella Gray airing now

It's been really fun revisiting the SOS Brigade and I'm looking forward to getting to the events the anime never got the chance to adapt. Before that though I want to finally watch The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie because I have put it off for far too long.

8. The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya & The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya (TL 2009 + 10)

I bought the 2021 editions of the Haruhi LNs when they came out but only recently have I started reading them. It's really fun to compare the order of events presented in the LN with that of the anime. --

The lack of multiple routes makes it a much quicker story to read and much more easy to recommend (in my opinion) to someone interested in visual novels. The premise might make you roll your eyes but if you lean into it there is a lot to like. Excited for LOOPERS PLUS to come out this year.

7. LOOPERS (2021)

I read this in Japanese as part of my studies because I really love Mochizuki Kei's art. It was my first time reading a Kinetic Novel and I enjoyed being able to see the entirety of the story in one go without the need to replay for new routes and alternative dialogue. --

I feel bad for the people who are about to watch GQuuuuuuX and haven't seen 79 because the alt-universe concept hits so much better when you're familiar with the original canon. Now I gotta get off my ass and watch Zeta before Kamille makes a cameo in GQuuuuuuX.

6. Mobile Suit Gundam (1979)

I stalled on finishing this show for a long time but with GQuuuuuuX coming out I got it done in time to see the first three GQuuuuuuX episodes in theaters. I wish it hadn't taken me this long cause this shit is genuinely so awesome the last few episodes were surreal. --

I haven't updated this thread in so long I don't remember everything I've read/watched since then but I'll record some of them. The timeline of when I finished these is all over the place so I'm just rolling with it.

5. The Brutalist (2024)

I find it difficult to describe the experience of watching this movie with words. It absolutely was worth the watch and the 215 minute runtime is split up by an intermission that let me catch my breath and discuss the movie with @icedancer.bsky.social #BringBackVistaVision

4. Challengers (2024)

This movie was shot so excellently and the score blew my mind I am absolutely appalled it did not get any nominations at The Oscars. Anyways Art and Patrick belong together that embrace at the end was magical.

3. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (1997)

Oh wow what a cliffhanger I can't wait to see what happens to Asuka when End of Evangelion releases in Summer 1997

As a fan of Blue Period, I thought I knew what to expect reading these stories. However, the intensity of the graphic content was both erotic and fascinating in a way that other manga I read haven’t done. I agree with her afterword that there are some clunky moments but I was left wanting more.

2. Nude Model and Other Stories - Tsubasa Yamaguchi (2022)

This book is a collection of three short manga by Blue Period mangaka Tsubasa Yamaguchi. The first two “Nude Model” and “Girl” were published in good!アフタヌーン back in 2015 and the third “Kamiya” was published in 月刊アフタヌーン in 2022.
