So, a lot of peta shelters are basically delegated to “Euthanasia clinics” in some areas because the sheer number of people with sickly pets who physically cannot afford the vet bill. They can surrender the pet and PETA covers the euthanasia. This is good, but it makes the stats look terrible.

I’m not being argumentative, but I BEG people to look into these claims and ask “Why is peta euthanizing so many animals,” because a lot of people were just told this is the truth without asking why.

I will admit that I do see the confusion. Squirrels aren’t ideal vectors, but it’s not like they have a resistance to the virus. There are mammals that do have resistance, but squirrels aren’t one of them.

This is only because they *usually* die quickly after a rabid encounter because they’re small prey animals and rabies likes to travel across a food web. The squirrel being in captivity changes the context.
