Yeah, the Ballista was always one of the fighters I was pretty happy with how it turned out, considering so many of these were very much freeform 3D riffing in project primitive. I'd say I like the later Ballista C-2 variant (of course you have seen it) I did a wee bit more, but I dig them both.

The weapon on the top is a variant of the weapon the sendai is holding in the first illo. The weapon in the middle is a variant of the weapon the hudai (TKP cyborg) character is holding in the second illo. The 3rd weapon is an entirely new design not based on a prior illustrated version.

New 2025 collection of Theos KE Polemos shettier small arms pencil thumb design roughs. These weapons are actually designed for sendai, taedai, and hudai (bio-mechanical lifeforms, more or less mecha) so they are for armor/body types with longer forearms and non human proportions.

I wouldn't sweat not knowing this, as some of the examples of weapons using some form of Bakelite, or similar material, are obscure or easy to miss. The vintage AK mags were pretty common though. These crazy Russian prototype weapons, not so common (didn't go into production) but are other examples.

Neither have I (played much point and click games) but I will say if illo is successfully making you want to do that, it succeeded to do what I had intended; draw the viewer in. Also, if you haven't already seen them, there are several more I did that are in my feed, such as this one in my reply :)

The magazine (along with the stock) is actually a similar material to Bakelite (synthetic plastic) and there are real world equivalents; quite common are vintage "Bakelite" (they were fiberglass composite but looked like Bakelite, hence "Bakelite" mags) magazines for the AK-47 and AK variants.
