I've worked ag for over a decade. Farms have been in crisis for a long time, and it is getting exponentially worse. American people are deeply out of touch with their calories, and this is a perfect storm for major collapse in the food supply. We need organizing and skills building right now.

For those who've never picked cherries, 20-24 totes is beast mode! Anyone who thinks this is not a skilled labor needs to get out in those trees. An inexperienced picker might get 1-2 totes per hour. We all depend on these skills!

There's also the not metaphorical real ecosystems that we have systematically destroyed for the purpose of capital accumulation, and on which our survival depends, exceeding their limits while we fuss over political parties that ignore the predicament entirely.

Cherry harvest is INTENSE. It is very short and the fruit can't be handled when temps get much over 80 degrees, which means pickers can start very early. When I worked cherries it was routine to start at 3 am. None of these workers make enough, pay reduction is foul.
